Rishabh and his story…

11-year-old Rishabh from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, had always been a lively and cheerful child. But when he was diagnosed with cancer three years ago, his life took a different turn. Currently admitted to Ganga Prem Hospice, the only hospice in Uttarakhand, Rishabh’s health has seen a gradual decline over the past 6-7 months after which he got admitted to Ganga Prem Hospice.

As Rishabh ‘s mother Kavita shared the story of her son, she spoke with pride about his maturity beyond his years. Despite his own illness, Rishabh always made sure that his mother ate on time while taking care of him and the household chores. He showed a level of responsibility and care that was rare for a boy of his age. Rishabh was fearless when it came to treatments like chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or injections. He approached them with a calm attitude and a sense of understanding that surprised even the medical staff.

 

Rishabh used to take charge of his own treatment by reminding his parents about his medicines and its timetable which was explained by his doctor and nurses, along with this he also kept a close eye on his parents’ well-being. He made it a point to ensure they were not under stress or fighting, always prioritizing their happiness and comfort above his own.

While Rishabh ‘s mother narrated her son’s story, tears welled up in her eyes, reflecting the love and admiration she had for her brave boy. His father, on the other hand, shared some happy memories captured in photographs before Rishabh ‘s chemotherapy and radiation sessions. These images showcased a beaming young boy, full of life and joy, a stark contrast to the reality of his current battle with cancer.

In the face of adversity, Rishabh ‘s resilience, maturity, and selflessness shone through, inspiring all those around him with his strength and courage. Despite the challenges he faced, Rishabh remained a beacon of hope and positivity, a true fighter in the midst of his toughest battle.

Rishabh left his body peacefully in Ganga Prem Hospice on 28th Feb 2024. May his soul rest in peace!
