About the position

Ganga Prem Hospice runs Uttarakhand's first home palliative care service, which spans three cities. Since the programme's inception, it has served over 3,200 terminally ill patients and conducted over 50,000 nurse-led home care visits.

The Ganga Prem Hospice home care programme in Dehradun is being expanded to reach more patients, increase the frequency of visits to patients in need, and add more specialist services.

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and monitoring the project in its entirety, managing three or more home care units, and coordinating with palliative care nurses, social workers, counsellors, administrative staff, doctors, physiotherapists, visiting specialists, and GPH's back-end, administrative and management teams.

The coordinator will also be responsible for ensuring that records and data are accurately maintained, delivering on the project's goals, and liaising with healthcare professionals, hospitals, national and international organisations, funders and donors, and all internal and external stakeholders.

Desired qualifications and experience

• MSW / MPH / MBA / MHA / MSc (Psychology), or an equivalent qualification in social work, public health, healthcare administration, management or a related discipline.
• Hands-on experience in a non-profit organisation, project management or hospital administration, along with team leadership experience, is required.
• A minimum of 5–8 years of experience in these relevant areas is mandatory.

We are looking for an experienced and empathetic counsellor with an MSc/MA in psychology and at least two years of counselling experience. The counsellor will provide psychological, emotional and social support to Ganga Prem Hospice's home care patients and their immediate family members and caregivers.

What the role involves

As Ganga Prem Hospice provides palliative and hospice care to terminally ill cancer patients, you will routinely interact with patients in advanced stages of disease, as part of a multidisciplinary team of nurses, doctors, physiotherapists and other specialists. You will support patients by helping them adjust to the changes taking place in their lives, assessing their emotional and psychological well-being, helping improve their quality of life and mental health, assisting them in accessing spiritual care and counselling, documenting their concerns in your notes, and using standardised tools and surveys to record information and assess psychological symptoms in patients and their caregivers.

Supporting the loved ones of these patients, and providing bereavement counselling in the event of a death, will also be part of the counsellor's role.

Your patients may come from diverse religious and socio-economic backgrounds.

Selected candidates will be expected to enhance their knowledge of palliative care through self-study and certifications, and to work in close coordination with the healthcare and administrative teams.

You will enter your own reports into data management software and apps, maintain hard-copy files and forms, and create presentations and MIS sheets of your work. You will train and guide volunteers and other counsellors and social workers, and both participate in and deliver training sessions, on-site or in the field. The role also involves interacting with donor organisations, visiting experts and therapists.

Desired qualifications and experience

• Education: An MSc/MA in clinical, applied or counselling psychology will be given preference. An MSW may also be considered.
• Language: Proficiency in written and spoken English and Hindi is required. Knowledge of Garhwali is a bonus.
• Experience: A minimum of one year of counselling experience in a healthcare or NGO setting.
• Computer literacy:
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook
  • Ability to prepare Excel-based MIS sheets and PowerPoint presentations, use Microsoft OneDrive and schedule online meetings
  • Willingness and ability to learn the organisation's patient-records, data-management and reporting software and apps

Detailed medical information and data are recorded by nurses, doctors and therapists, and this data needs to be entered, cross-checked and analysed.

The Data Analyst will be responsible for the accurate and timely collection and consolidation of programme data, analysing quantitative and qualitative information, and supporting programme monitoring, review, reporting and evidence-based decision-making. The Data Analyst will also establish secure systems for foolproof data collection, data quality checks and error minimisation, and will maintain confidentiality and access control.

Desired qualifications and experience

• A BCA / MCA / BSc (Computer Science or IT) / MSc (Statistics, Data Science or Computer Science) / B.Tech / M.Tech / MBA (Operations or Analytics) qualification is desired.
• Experience in MIS management, healthcare databases, programme monitoring, data analysis and reporting, using Excel, Power BI, DHIS2, SharePoint or similar information systems.
• Experience in app development and data migration is desirable.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in data management is necessary.
