Rejuvenating Kirtan on Varuthini Ekadashi

It was a special day on the 26th of April, 2022 at Ganga Prem Hospice, when joyous kirtan notes filled the forenoon air on the patients floor, with everybody singing, chanting and clapping along. Five venerable monks from the International Society for Krishna Consciousness – Madhvacharya Das, Deen Gopal Das, Mohan Vamsi Das, Kamlakant Das, and Yashomati Pran Das, sang and played the harmonium, mridangam, and cymbals with devotional fervour.

The kirtan area was decorated with marigold flowers and roses, and fruits were offered to Lord Krishna and then distributed as prasad.

The preparations for the one and a half hour long kirtan started much before the arrival of the ISKCON monks, who visit Ganga Prem Hospice regularly to serve the hospice’s patients and their families. Not only the GPH staff, but caregivers of the patients participated enthusiastically in the kirtan preparations, helping with the flower and seating arrangements.
