Cancer screening in village Gohri Maphi – May 1, 2024
The Ganga Prem Hospice, Rishikesh, and Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute Delhi’s joint cancer screening initiative to catch malignancies early reached village Gohri Maphi in Raiwala on May 1, 2024. The screening camp had three doctors, including a gynaecologist, an ENT surgeon and a palliative medicine specialist. There was free-of-charge vitals check, prescribed medicine distribution and pap smear test for cervix cancer early diagnosis.
The elderly population especially benefited as those above 60 years of page constituted 31% of the total number of 87 patients seen. A postoperative cancer patient reached for consultation with his family. Belonging to the economically-weaker section of society, his surgery had been done free-of-charge at the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Research Institute in Delhi. Worried about the cost of his adjuvant radiation therapy, he was assured that till his line of treatment was not closed, he would continue to receive the treatment free.
