Cancer Clinic Camp at Cheshire Homes, Dehradun
On 29th December 2024, Ganga Prem Hospice, in collaboration with the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre (RGCIRC), organized a Cancer Clinic Camp at Cheshire Homes, a charitable trust located in Dalanwala, Dehradun. This event provided a vital opportunity for cancer patients from various regions of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh to access specialized consultations at no cost.
A total of 42 cancer patients attended the camp to consult with Medical Director of surgical oncology at RGCIRC, Delhi Dr. A.K. Dewan and surgical oncologist Dr. Prerit Sharma. Among the attendees were both long-standing patients and new visitors seeking expert medical advice.
The commitment of the patients and their families was evident, as many travelled significant distances to be part of the camp. For instance, a family from Bijnor made a 2.5-hour journey early in the morning to ensure their bedridden relative could consult with Dr. Dewan.
The camp offered routine health check-ups, including blood pressure and blood sugar monitoring, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of the patients’ overall health. In addition, medicines were provided at no cost to those who were prescribed any during their consultations.
Additionally, several patients expressed the need for Ganga Prem Hospice’s home visit services, while others inquired about hospice care options, highlighting the growing need for compassionate and accessible support for those battling advanced cancer.
At Ganga Prem Hospice, we are committed to bringing care and compassion to those who need it the most. This camp reflected our mission to make healthcare services more accessible to the community and to provide not just medical expertise but also emotional support. With the continued support of our partners and the community, we strive to bridge gaps in healthcare and bring hope and relief to patients and their families.
