Are we allowed to be sick?

In today’s world, there is a huge obsession with healing. Social media is full of healing ideas for body, mind, emotions and spirit. Along with this are quotes galore about the best way to think so we go around policing our thoughts as if there is no tomorrow. A new phrase has emerged ‘positive toxicity.’ This is where you are constantly trying to be positive even when you are breaking inside. In my view this may work to a point but for many it feels like a huge pressure and constant battle. How many thoughts and feelings can you battle with after all. And don’t you end up starting to feel bad about yourself if you are not reaching your positivity goal. Don’t you get exhausted and isolated not being able to be your authentic self. When you fake it so much, you can lose your own true self and this situation is very dangerous. We have been told by Shakespeare ‘to thine own self be true.’ Repression sets in and cause havoc to the entire system. I am not saying give into your negativity but do not think it is all bad for it might be telling you something you need to know for your well being. How about thinking that part of your negativity may be a friend and needs to be heard not suppressed. Some negativity does not deserve attention though and must be curbed with rational thought rather than fake positivity. Rational thinking comes from buddhi, the discriminating intellect we all have. Just over riding negativity with positivity may not always be effective as the mind needs to be convinced with the higher power of a clear intellect. Not only is such intellect helpful in dissolving negativity but so also are other activities involving the mind, body and senses.
Having access to all the parts of yourself as they really are will help you on the journey to wholeness and happiness
