A Talk on “Be Cancer Aware” by Dr. A.K. Dewan, was organized at the Bioscience and Biotechnology auditorium at the IIT Roorkee campus. Ph.D. and B.Tech. students, along with faculty members, participated in the session. The motive of the Talk was to educate students and faculty members on the types of multiple factors that develop cancer in the system, and no single factor can be taken into consideration for abnormal cell growth in the living body. Most youngsters fall into nicotine and alcohol addiction due to the pressure of studies or other social pressures.
Dr. Dewan shared the harmful effects of such chemicals on the body. The audience was from the Bioscience and Biotechnology department; they also approached Dr. Dewan about future possibilities of doing research with the patients. Ganga Prem Hospice also prepared an e-questionnaire and hard copies to be filled in by participants, where the data can be used for future research purposes.
All faculty members appreciated the event and showed interest in organizing more such events at the IIT Roorkee campus soon.
