Anek’s Smile Lights Up Ganga Prem Hospice
At just 12 years old, Master Anek Joshi has already faced challenges that many adults can only imagine. Diagnosed with Astrocytoma Grade IV, a type of brain cancer, Anek’s life has been a rollercoaster of hospital visits, treatments, and uncertainty. Yet, despite these obstacles, Anek Joshi’s infectious smile and resilient spirit have captured the hearts of the staff and caregivers at Ganga Prem Hospice.
Anek, who was admitted to the hospice on December 9, 2024, is bravely battling his cancer. Despite his illness, Anek’s mother, Barro Devi, proudly shares stories of her son’s naughty antics and his special bond with his grandfather.

“Anek is the most loved by his grandfather,” Barro Devi said, her eyes sparkling with memories. “He’s always been a bit of a mischief-maker, but his grandfather adores him.”
As Barro Devi shared more about Anek’s childhood, it became clear that he’s a bright and curious boy who loves to explore and learn. His mother’s pride and love for her son were palpable, and the staff at GPH were deeply moved by their story.
One of the most touching moments during their stay was when Barro Devi saw a photo of herself and Anek taken during their time at the hospice. Her eyes welled up with tears as she gazed at the picture, and Anek, too, seemed moved by the moment. It was the first time Barro Devi had been photographed with her son, making the moment all the more special.

Also, Anek’s love for noodles is well-known, and our dietitian took note. To ensure Anek can enjoy his favorite food while maintaining a healthy diet, our team prepared a special, healthy version of noodles, tailored to his nutritional needs.
The staff at GPH have been struck by Anek’s shy yet charming personality. While he may take time to warm up to new people, his smile can light up a room and has won over the hearts of everyone at the hospice.
