Krishna Das Benefit Concert in Rishikesh

Once again the Kirtan King, Krishna Das, sang at a benefit concert in aid of Ganga Prem Hospice, on the 19th of February 2023. The kirtan held in Rishikesh, attracted well over 2000 kirtan lovers from all over India as well as some people from abroad.

After a break in the yearly tradition due to the Covid pandemic the venue saw exited crowds converging from all directions and filling the hall to bursting. A large screen was erected in the courtyard for those who could not squeeze into the hall. Even before Krishna Das entered with his co-musicians, the audience began to chant the names of Bhagwan in joyful anticipation. When he came in to the hall, he was met by resounding cheers and applause which almost lifted the roof.

Once the lamp had been lit and he sat on the stage, the audience settled down to listen to the opening mantras. Then, he began to sing and each new kirtan was met with louder and louder applause. The sound of two thousand people clapping to the rhythm and singing enthusiastically was extremely uplifting. No-one could have enough of his utterly inspired singing. As the tempo speed increased, hundreds of people got to their feet and danced ecstatically.

At the end of the kirtan and prayer for the wellbeing of all beings, Krishna Das told the audience that it had been an amazing experience and there was no one there who did not wholeheartedly agree with him.

The Hospice extends its deep gratitude to Krishna Das and his team for their continued love and support and also its sincere appreciation to the sponsor and all the people involved in organising this wonderful kirtan which required months of selfless sewa in its preparation.
