The aim of the screening camp and an accompanying awareness session is to foster understanding of why detecting cancer early is important and can save one’s life. Women can get a pap smear test free of charge\, while everybody who comes for screening will have a free vital check\, weight check\, and blood sugar test.

The camp will also offer free-of-charge dental examination by a team of specialists from the Seema Dental College & Hospital\, Rishikesh.  \nThe GPH and RGCIRC nursing team will offer free vitals check\, body weight check\, and blood sugar testing. The screening camp is open to people of all age groups\, particularly women\, who are encouraged to screen for early signs of cancer\, avail the pap smear test\, and get a regular breast examination done as part of preventive oncology screening.  \nThis screening camp is part of a round-the-year preventive oncology philanthropic service of Ganga Prem Hospice\, Rishikesh and RGCIRIC\, Delhi.

DESCRIPTION:In the lead-up to World No Tobacco Day on May 31\, Ganga Prem Hospice (GPH) will organize a free cancer screening camp on Sunday\, May 25\, at Sardarni Nanki Devi Punjab Sindh Kshetra Hospital\, Haridwar Road\, Rishikesh\, from 9 am to 1pm. \nDr AK Dewan\, Ganga Prem Hospice’s medical director and director of surgical oncology at the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre\, New Delhi will attend the camp\, accompanied by doctors and nursing staff from GPH. \nThe initiative aims to raise awareness about the link between tobacco use and cancer\, particularly among high-risk groups. \nSince 2017\, GPH has provided inpatient care to 215 patients with cancers of the mouth\, face\, and neck\, of which 85% were male. Additionally\, 110 patients with lung cancer have received palliative care\, with men making up 72% of this group.
